National Museum

This museum educates visitors regarding the history and culture of Costa Rica. It includes a treasury of gold pieces, furniture from the colonial era, a sample of funeral ceremonies and much more. Don't forget to look in the museum’s yard for monolithic spheres; something that is unique in the world and found only in the Diquis region.

Gold Museum

This museum has a collection of pre-colombian gold pieces made by indigenous people. Among the more than 2000 pieces on display, the most noticeable pieces include small figures that are half-man and half-bird and erotic statues. The museum is also known for the national numismatic collection.

Prices

There is no need to pay for transport because both museums are in San José. Entrance into the National Museum is US $1 (students with ID have free entrance) and the entrance fee for the Gold Museum is US $5.
